The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Statistics. The Department enjoys a strong international profile in both theoretical and applied statistics research. Current areas of specialization in statistics include bioinformatics, biostatistics, Bayesian statistics, capture-recapture models, empirical likelihood theory, industrial statistics, optimal design of experiments, robust statistics, small sample asymptotics, spatial statistics, and statistical ecology. The Department has significant external collaborative ties with the Vancouver Island Health Authority, Victoria Hospice, BC Cancer Agency, as well as many on-campus collaborations. UVic graduate students awarded for best posters at CMS Winter Meeting |

Our graduate students Amanda Malloch and Scott Lunney were judged to have two out of the three top posters at the 2011 CMS Winter meeting in Toronto. A cash prize and banquet tickets were awarded to Amanda and Scott for their respective posters titled Loopy Graph Decompositions and Broadcasts and Domination in Trees. Congratulations to you both! |
