The ODE model
- The contact network is a random network on individuals, with household structure.
- So, following a random link, the probability that the link falls into a household of \(H_{nj}\) is \[p_{nj}=\frac{(n-j)H_{nj}}{\sum_{n,j}(n-j)H_{nj}}\]

The ODE model
- The contact network is a random network on households, a link connecting to a household has the same probability connecting to every individual in the household.
- So, following a random link, the probability that the link falls into a household of \(H_{nj}\) is \[p_{nj}=\frac{(n-j)/nH_{nj}}{\sum_{n,j}(n-j)/nH_{nj}}\] for \(n\neq0\), and \(0\) for \(n=0\).
