AICc to compare the 6 and 7 parameter models

Here, n = 19 and k is the number of parameters in each of the models.

For the 7 parameter “BFGS” method:

RSS = 2345.593

AIC = 161.4456

AICc = AIC + 2k(k+1)/(n-k-1) = AIC + 10.18182 = 161.4456 + 10.18182 = 171.6274

For the 6 parameter “BFGS” method:

RSS = 2873.137

AIC = 163.3000

AICc = AIC + 2k(k+1)/(n-k-1) = AIC + 7 = 163.3000 + 7 = 170.3

Consequently, the 6 parameter “BFGS” model is found to be a slightly, not drastically, better fitted model to the data.
